Brexit Update

Science Friction Ltd. and the Roy Harper Shop is based in the EU, Southwest Cork in Ireland. Just to clarify in case the .co.uk domain causes any confusion.

**  Our UK customers will not notice much of a change from previous orders  **

Brexit:

From the 1st of January 2021 all orders shipped to the UK are charged UK VAT at 20% instead of the Irish VAT rate of 23%. The only change is the VAT rate. VAT was always charged on orders to the UK. The difference is that any order with a subtotal (before VAT and shipping) up to €150 (£135) will have the VAT applied at this end as per usual, except at the UK rate, with some extra customs information completed at this end. There will be virtually no change noted by our UK customers other than new customs declarations form CN23 postage labels. Orders with a subtotal greater than €150 (£135) will have no VAT payable when placing the order instead will be subject to VAT and duties payable in the UK and will require payment, by the customer, in advance of delivery. A subtotal of this amount in our shop would be a very rare occurrence so is unlikely to affect anyone. If you have any questions or concerns please drop us an email. Website contact information can be found in the footer link below

Country Selection for Billing/Shipping Address: For England, Scotland and Wales please select 'Great Britain'. For Northern Ireland please select 'Ireland'.

Currency:

We've also taken the opportunity, while upgrading the website and payment gateways, to change the shop's base currency to EURO. All charges will be in EURO. This decision was made in order to streamline and simplify the accounting which was becoming more complicated. The prices have been converted from the original prices in GBP and rounded up or down. To be honest most prices have been rounded down. For those of you in the UK, the drop in VAT rate and rounding down in prices should off-set any transaction fee that you may incur for a non-sterling transaction.

Since the shop base currency had previously always been GBP I've enabled a currency switcher. It's for reference only so please be aware that if you do view prices in GBP the final transaction will be charged in EURO. The total, in EURO, will be shown in the checkout below the GBP total.

Finally, we've added the Stripe payment gateway for credit card orders with options for Apple Pay, Google Pay and Microsoft Pay. PayPal is still an option for PayPal account holders.
